“When my husband & I went to view the photos, we were delighted as it captured me looking happy, beautiful & normal – just what I wanted”

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in June 2016 and my life changed quite dramatically after that day. I had to have surgery to remove the tumour and a couple of Lymph Nodes from under the arm, and when I received the results of my surgery I was devastated to find out that it had already spread beyond the Breast. This meant that I had to have Chemotherapy as well as Radiotherapy, and unfortunately it continued to spread. In April 2017 I was told that I now have Secondary Bone Cancer with a tumour in my lower back. The treatment that I had received also caused further medical problems resulting in a 10 day stay in hospital with Heart Failure, and it has also caused Osteoporosis in my Spine.

After going through a lot of procedures/treatments in the last 2 years, I felt that I needed to feel & look normal again, so my husband gave me a voucher for Kensa for Christmas. I wanted to wait a little while before I took advantage of this as I wanted my hair to grow a little longer after losing it all from treatment. My booking was made but did not feel able to wear lingerie due to scaring and body shape issues, but that did not appear to cause any problems for my shoot as the team said I could wear what I wanted so I dived into the wardrobe & found a few things that I thought looked good on me.

The day came for the experience and I loved it, it was so nice to be pampered & be the centre of attention for a couple of hours. My makeup was done to suit me & my age as I was worried that it would be a bit over the top, but I could not have done it so well myself, Karen was so great with taking my pictures as well!

When my husband & I went to view the photos, we were delighted as it captured me looking happy, beautiful & normal – just what I wanted. If you are thinking about doing this please do go ahead with it as you will see yourself in the way that others see you even if you do not believe it when people say you look well or pretty or even beautiful.
