I didn’t book a boudoir photoshoot because I felt perfect. I booked it because I am a survivor and I wanted to feel empowered.
My first marriage was marked by domestic abuse — a chapter of my life that left invisible scars and deeply impacted how I saw myself. During that time, I gained weight, not just physically but emotionally. I carried fear, self-doubt, and the belief that I wasn’t enough.
Eventually, I found the strength to leave and begin again. I worked hard to rebuild myself, and part of that journey included losing the weight I had gained — reclaiming not just my body, but my confidence. I felt strong again.
Then menopause came, bringing unexpected weight gain and new changes I hadn’t prepared for. My body shifted in ways I couldn’t control, just as I was approaching 50.
Just after turning 50 I had a breast cancer scare — it gave me a reason to look after myself. I committed to myself again: weight loss, training, building strength, and honouring the body that has carried me through so much. Not punishing it. Not hiding it. Celebrating it.
After the breakup of my second marriage, I faced another moment where I could have questioned my worth. Instead, I chose empowerment. I chose healing. I chose me.
This boudoir photoshoot isn’t about lingerie or posing. It’s about reclaiming my story. It’s about honoring the woman who endured abuse, navigated heartbreak, experienced loss and change, and still stands strong at 51 — softer in some ways, fiercer in others.
This is for the woman I was.
This is for the woman I am.
And this is for the woman I’m still becoming.
